SEO and the Benefits for Companies
SEO is a different beast than regular public relations marketing, and should be treated as such. That isn’t to say that just become someone specializes in one or the other, they can’t do the other’s job, but there are few people that really do know how to do both. The truth is that most CEOs don’t want to hear that they will have to hire two different companies to take care of all of their reputation management needs. They would rather have one company that can do both and if they can’t do that, they just want one company that will do traditional public relations. Mostly the reason for this is because most CEOs don’t know what SEO and an online reputation management campaign can do for their company. Fionn Downhill, CEO of Elixirinteractive , has had a lot of experience trying to talk to CEOs of other companies and explain to them the benefits of an online reputation management campaign. Those who have taken her advise have not been sorry about it.
It can also be hard for CEOs to see what they will be getting into, or what good has been done for them when just looking at the numbers. A good reputation management campaign will not necessarily ever show direct results that can be pinpointed on the campaign until you take it away, but your website’s position in search engines and the amount of organic traffic you produce will increase significantly. Your stores, if you have physical locations may even show an increase in walk in traffic, because the way people decide if they want to go to a store these days is not through traditional advertisements or from what their reputation looks like in the newspapers. Instead, the ruling body which decides what is hot and what is not is the internet . In a day and age where a President can get elected, majorly through his efforts in targeting the online communities, it is important to understand that what happens on the internet now effects the way people act.
