Too Much to Do in Melbourne

Melbourne, the capital of Victoria offers its tourist so many things to do it’s hard to figure out where to begin, so it’s recommended to first start at the Federation Square , fondly referred to by the locals as Fed Square. Fed Square is a big area right in the city’s central business district and is host to many major events in the city. Many establishments such as galleries, theaters and museums are also located in the business district and are dedicated to Australian culture. While at the Fed Square, look for the huge outdoor public display screen, which is used to broadcast many events, like the FIFA World Cup. There are also countless restaurants and a really fantastic Melbourne hotel .

Next on your agenda should be the Melbourne Zoo, especially the zoo’s Butterfly House, which is home to a large variety of beautiful specimens of butterflies. After the zoo, shopping is in order. Melbourne’s Myer and David Jones are only two of all the top-notch stores you’ll visit that offer merchandise at very reasonable prices. The Queen Victoria Market is a ‘must-see’ place for any visitor. The Market sells everything, from freshly prepared foods to souvenirs and clothing. 7 hectares of market space will let you explore for hours and still not be bored.

If Melbourne’s city scene is not your style, then take the ferry down to Phillip Island. Just off the coast of Victoria this island will definitely entertain you. The penguin parade is something not to be missed. Thousands of penguins head for the islands shore for their nesting grounds. Summertime is the best time to see these extremely amusing birds.

Mind you, the above activities is just for starters, there’s still so much to do, you’ll need to spend at least 2 weeks in Melbourne.
